For the Love of Paris

The urge becomes greater as the days go by, my feet itchy with every Google pass.

Paris, when will I walk your streets again?

London was my wife and my comfort. I spoke the language and felt familiar with the people. Paris was my lover, my concubine. Wild exploration and nervous excitement around every corner.

How I miss my lover.

The urge to return to Paris has slowly increased over the last 4 months or so. The Rand continues to weaken, and accommodation is more likely to be a Metro bench than a Bohemian loft. It must be sooner rather than later.

I made myself a promise that once I've bought my Motorcycle; the next thing on my list is to return to Paris. If only for a week. Who needs to sleep anyway? Especially in Paris. It's only five days. I'll buy food from the market in Mauberte, and wine from the many Wine merchants in and around Montmartre. My goal is for September/December 2009, or maybe 2010 while everyone is here in S.A. for the World cup.

I'll need about 20gigs in memory cards for my camera, and good shoes. Warm clothes and a good street map.

It's important that I take a decent camera. Above is what happens when you take crap.

Latest Camera Accessory

Better and cheaper than a new Camera or lenses. I am now able to find places previously inaccessible by car. Collected the bike on Friday. Man, the week is too long.

This is part of an old abandoned village near where I live. Complete with Public Swimming pool.

Ten Thousand

It's taken 730 days to reach 10 000 views. Isn't that just absolutely bloody, incredibly..

sslooww?

I doubt very much whether in fact that is a true figure, since I am sure some of my 'fans' read the articles more than once just to make me happy. He, he..

As might be seen(if you have a lot of time on your hands, or just plain lunatic) by going back in time, the blog has really changed a lot. From my angry days of ranting and raving, to somewhat more sensible articles, and down to the plain lazy sailing of photo-blogging.

So whether or not you care a continental; I've reached 10 000views(100017,100018..). Here are some interesting 10 000's.

May 6 2008 - Burmese(Myanmar) death toll tops 10 000. As I write; the figure passes 22 980.
Sad, but true.

10 000 Days - With the majority of the songs clocking in well past the seven-minute mark, you could be forgiven in thinking taht the title of the album refers to how long it actually takes to make it throught the whole thing. 'Amazon-UK'

10,000 Reason Civilization is Doomed

10,000 Reasons will be down for maintenance for a few days, possibly weeks. Nothing to worry about, we just need to figure out a couple of back-end issues to decrease the energy spent.

Keep reasoning, World.

And here I thought it was Oil?

And I guess when I reach 20 000 views in another two or three years, it will again be worthwhile Googling just to make the deadline article.

Cheers, and thanks for returning again.. and again.

Speed freak

I thought it was quite ironic that this kid was speeding in his motorised wheelchair, and motor-vehicle accidents are what puts most people in wheelchairs.

Play it down..

Who can say I should not be excited?

Our local country restaurant is undergoing a revamp and the premises are being upgraded and enlarged. Big deal you say?
But then out of the blue the owners approached me and said they would like me to do photographic prints to adorn the walls. The theme would be local history and there will be between 30 and 40 photos required.

It never quite dawned on me what an honour it is just to have your work recognised; a well done here, and a Wow here and there on my Blog, and a 'good show' from few photographic clubs on the web made me feel very proud.

I've never seen my photography as worthy of quiting my job and going it alone, so to speak, but this gives me the opportunity to put my work on display and that in itself is more than I could ever have dreamed of.

The financial gain is minor and insignificant against how good I feel this morning.

Wish me luck.. I'm going to need it.
