Historical Landmark?
One of the first mine shafts sunk in Johannesburg.
Johannesburg was born because of the discovery of Gold. Significant maybe?
Not to everyone. Another historical landmark becomes a shanty town.
The simple truth is that there is no revival of the Johannesburg City centre.
It would be nice if somebody cared again.

That might be true anywhere else but here.
Anything object/building/museum/statue thought to belong to the minority or attached by even the tinniest thread(innocently or not) to the apartheid era is either destroyed or neglegted.
Deaf ears fall on the loudest drum.
